Isle of Skye in Photos

The Isle of Skye on Scotland’s west coast is a majestic island that attracts visitors for its rugged scenery.  Accessed via ferry or the recently built Skye Bridge it is an outdoor enthusiasts’ playground.  With countless opportunities to hike through the heather filled valleys and to the top of the impressive mountains, you will be impressed by every turn of the road or trail.

We would recommend spending a minimum of 2 nights on the isle to see the main sights, more if you would like to enjoy some of the hiking trails.  There are two main small towns, Kyleakin and Portree, where bed & breakfast accommodations are the popular choice.  Kyleakin is located just over the Skye Bridge whereas Portree is located further west on the island and perhaps offers a more central location from which to explore the Isle of Skye.

The stunning scenery on the Isle of Skye is breathtaking from dramatic sea views to towering peaks.  We hope that you enjoy our photos and that they inspire you to one day visit this corner of Scotland.

    • Thanks Debbie! The castles were stunning and in such incredible locations. The Highland cows were so cute and we practically stopped the car every time we saw one so that we could get out and look at them closer. How can you not love those faces!?! 🙂
