Whistler Dining Series – Part 1 – Dinner

Restaurants in Whistler you need to try…for dinner

We LOVE Whistler!!!  Therefore, we have spent many weekends up there to enjoy the outdoors (especially the skiing).  During our many visits, we have been able to try a large variety of restaurants and bars for dinner.  This is a selection of ones we highly recommend and feel you need to try on your next visit to Whistler, BC, Canada.

1. Splitz Grill – This is located near Marketplace in the Alpenglow Hotel.  It is somewhat like a Subway Restaurant type of burger place.  You order from a choice of burgers such as beef, chicken, buffalo, turkey or vegetable.  Then you get to choose your favourite toppings and spreads from a large selection of vegetables and condiments.  It is all placed on a toasted bun.  Don’t forget to try their famous Splitz Sauce on your burger.  It is the perfect personalized burger!

 2. Bavaria Restaurant – A little taste of Switzerland in the heart of Whistler.  This upscale restaurant is located very close to Splitz Grill in the Alpenglow Hotel.  They serve some delicious traditional Swiss dishes such as, fondues, raclette and schnitzels.  The restaurant is decked out in Swiss and German style decorations and the servers dress in Swiss attire.  Bavaria Restaurant is a great setting for a nice meal and the food is delicious!!

 3. The Brewhouse – It is located near the Olympic Square in Whistler Village.  The Brewhouse is exactly that, they brew their own beer on site (which is delicious).  It is also has a lounge and family restaurant that serve very good food.  It is in the middle of the price range for restaurants in Whistler and serves a large variety of foods, including pizza and pasta, burgers and more fancy meals like salmon and high end steaks.  The restaurant has a very modern look and a lively atmosphere.  It is the perfect starting point for a night on the town.

 4. Mongolie Grill – This Asian-style restaurant is located in the heart of Whistler Village in the Whistler Village Center near the Holiday Inn.  Mongolie Grill is a stir-fry inspired cuisine, but the best part is that in Mongolian style, you can choose from a massive choice of meats, vegetables, sauces and noodles to make your perfect meal combination.  Once you have made your mixture the chefs cook it right in front of you!  Watch for some pretty slick moves with the flippers as well J.  The meal is delicious, but it can be a bit pricey, as you pay for your meal based on weight – so be careful how much you take.  If you can take the price, it is a wonderful dining experience.

 5. Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub – A true Irish Pub, the Dubh Linn Gate is in the perfect location directly at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains in the Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside Hotel.  They serve the wonderful and traditional Irish and British cuisine (we know they shouldn’t have British in an Irish restaurant, but hey we’re talking about Canada).  The Pub also has the traditional pub food you would expect to see in Canada (burgers, nachos, etc.), so there is choice for those who are not in love with Irish food.  They also serve a large selection of Irish and not Irish beer (big surprise from an Irish PUB we know).  Many evening they also have live music that is worth checking out.  The prices are similar to those you would see at other pubs, like the Brewhouse.  Great place for dinner and the ideal place for some après ski.

These are our favourite restaurants in Whistler for dinner.  That is not to say that we don’t love some of the other restaurants in town, but these ones top the list.  If you make your way to Whistler, make sure to check out any of the restaurants above and you will not be disappointed!

Stay tuned in the next few weeks as we continue our culinary look at Whistler with breakfast and dessert spots!!!
